Meet The Trekking Horses At Kerewong Horse Farm
Southern Cross Horse Treks horses are mostly Australian-bred Arabian horses, a spirited breed well known for its gracious beauty and movement, distinctive head shape, stamina, agility, intelligence and tough, yet sensitive nature. Arabians are ideal horses for multi-day long-distance trail riding through challenging terrain.
There is also one tall and strong Andalusian-TB and some Guy Fawkes Heritage Horses (Brumbies). Brumbies are Australian wild horses. The Brumbies were originally captured as wild horses in the Guy Fawkes River National Park, NSW by the Australian National Parks & Wildlife Services using humane passive trapping yards. After their capture, they were registered as Guy Fawkes Heritage Horses as proof of their origins and Australian Heritage Status. They were then professionally trained using Natural Horsemanship Techniques.
Brumbies are known to have a level-headed temperament and are the best you will find in terms of surefooted, confident bush horses. The brumbies feel at home here, on the Port Macquarie NSW hinterland, as the terrain is similar to where they grew up as young wild horses. They make excellent trail riding horses.
Each horse has its own characteristics and personality and Southern Cross Horse Treks makes every effort to match horse and rider for the comfort and safety of both.
